I cared what others thought about me for too long. I made decisions based on others’ opinions, in hopes that someone would love me perfectly.
I feared myself. I feared what I was capable of. I feared being happy, because I was conditioned to be angry and sad. My transcendence of this fear could not have been possible without experiencing the good and the bad. I needed to experience a Dark Night of the Soul to see what is Golden within me. To see that I am kind, that I am funny, that I am full of an immense well of love and creativity. To see that I am a fighter against injustice. To see that the core of me is good and that the shadow elements are a necessary piece to my wholeness as a person. To let myself cry and feel it. To let myself be angry and channel it. To take the good with the bad and be grateful for experiencing the wonders of this Earth and the Human Condition. To understand that this life and this experience are the greatest gift that we take for granted. To love, to meditate, to learn, to create, to fight, to care too much, to bleed for those who bleed for us. I am deeply grateful to be in this Garden. I am deeply grateful for the trees, the Cokes, the pageantry, and the banal. I see. I see your beauty and humbly ask you to drop down your guard and experience it with me. To put love in your heart and see in others a reflection of yourself.
Breathe in the blessed energy of this universe and breathe out the toxins that ail your body. Take care of yourself, so that you can take care of others. See your follies, your prejudices, your vices, and make friends with them. Do anything but repress them, for they are your friends, too. They are your forgotten children, the ones who need the kindest embrace. The ones that need your loving eye and tender heart. Find them ways to express themselves. Integrate your light and darkness and know that the truth is knowledge and love. That the Great Beyond is all around us, and an even better version is on the other side. Take heed of these words. Dream infinitely and worry less. A new dawn is coming, and I’ll be right beside you.
